Energy Consumers Edge / Our approach

Image & Data Credits

Energy Consumers Edge uses images, illustrations, charts, and data to make home energy information easier to understand. This page explains how we aim to identify and credit those materials as the site develops.

We respect the work of photographers, illustrators, researchers, data providers, and other creators. Specific credits may appear in an image caption, article, source list, tool documentation, or another location associated with the material.

Images and Illustrations

Visual materials on the site may include original graphics, licensed photographs, illustrations, screenshots, or materials made available for reuse under applicable terms. The source and permitted uses can differ from one item to another.

Where attribution is required or appropriate, we aim to identify the creator or rights holder, source, and license or permission details when available. If an image has been cropped, annotated, or otherwise adapted, we aim to identify that change when required or useful for understanding the material.

An image shown on a government, nonprofit, or educational website is not automatically available for unrestricted reuse. Some materials on those sites may belong to third parties or be subject to separate licenses. We seek to check the rights and conditions that apply to the specific item before using it. Independent Statistics and Analysis

AI-Generated and Edited Visuals

AI tools may be used to develop or create illustrations where appropriate. An AI-generated illustration should not be presented as a photograph of an actual event, product test, person, or location when it is not one. Where the method of creation or an alteration matters to understanding an image, we aim to label or explain it.

For more about our intended approach, please see our AI Policy.

Data Sources

Our articles and tools may refer to energy statistics, utility tariffs, product specifications, public datasets, research, or other sources. Depending on the subject, relevant providers may include government energy agencies, utilities, regulators, manufacturers, program administrators, and research organizations.

Where practical, we aim to identify the source, publication or dataset, geographic coverage, unit, and data period. A source link or fuller citation may appear with the relevant article, chart, or calculator. The inclusion of an organization as a source does not imply that it endorses or is affiliated with Energy Consumers Edge.

An average price or modeled result should be identified in context. It may not represent an individual household’s rate, measured use, or actual savings. Our Sources & Data Policy explains the intended approach to data selection, dates, and revisions.

Charts, Calculations, and Adaptations

Charts and tables may be created by Energy Consumers Edge from published figures or other identified inputs. When we calculate, reorganize, or visualize third-party data, we aim to distinguish our presentation or interpretation from the original source and identify the underlying data and method where practical.

Where a third-party chart or image is reproduced or adapted, its own copyright, license, attribution, and permission requirements may apply. We aim to follow the conditions attached to the material used.

Reuse of Materials

The presence of an image, chart, or dataset on this site does not by itself grant permission to reuse it elsewhere. Rights may belong to Energy Consumers Edge or to another creator, publisher, agency, or licensor.

If you wish to reuse a specific item, check its credit and applicable license or contact the relevant rights holder. Some uses may be permitted by law or by the item’s license; other uses may require permission. References to organizations or their materials do not grant rights to use their names, logos, or trademarks.

Missing or Incorrect Credits

If you believe an image, data source, attribution, or license notice is missing or incorrect, please contact us through the Contact page. Include the page address, a description of the material, and details that can help us verify the concern, such as a link to the original work or license.

We aim to review credible reports and correct or remove material as appropriate. See our Corrections Policy for more information.
